According to Doyoung, the album draws inspiration from the emotions and experiences of youth. He explained that the title "foam of youth" represents the fleeting and ephemeral nature of young adulthood. The album explores themes of love, loss, and self-discovery.

The lead single, "From Little Wave," is a soulful ballad that showcases Doyoung's vocal range and emotional delivery. The album also includes a collaboration with Red Velvet's Wendy on the track "Dear Diary." Other notable tracks include "Rainy Day," "Night Air," and "Youth."
