Anthony Richardson Injures Right Shoulder

Colts Quarterback Will Miss Remainder of 2023 Season

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson sustained an injury to the AC joint in his right throwing shoulder on a running play in the second quarter against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2.

Richardson was injured while scrambling for a first down late in the second quarter. He was tackled hard by Jaguars linebacker Quincy Williams and immediately went to the ground in pain. Richardson was helped off the field and did not return to the game. Colts quarterback Nick Foles replaced Richardson and completed the game.

After the game, Colts head coach Frank Reich said that Richardson was scheduled for an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the injury. Reich said he was unsure if Richardson would be able to play in the Colts' Week 3 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Richardson is a rookie quarterback who was drafted by the Colts with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He has started all two games for the Colts this season and has completed 59.4% of his passes for 607 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions.

The Colts are now 0-2 on the season and are facing a difficult schedule in the coming weeks. They will play the Chiefs, Denver Broncos, Baltimore Ravens, and Green Bay Packers in their next four games.

Richardson's injury is a major setback for the Colts. He was the team's starting quarterback and is considered to be the franchise's future at the position. The Colts will now have to rely on Foles, who is a veteran quarterback but is not the same caliber of player as Richardson.

The Colts are hoping that Richardson will be able to return to action later in the season. However, it is also possible that he will miss the rest of the 2023 season. If Richardson is unable to play, the Colts could be in for a long and difficult season.
