Lynch's decision to take over Aetna's management is attributed to the division's performance struggles. CVS Health has lowered its 2024 forecast for the third time, citing challenges within Aetna's business.

As part of this transition, CVS Health Chief Financial Officer Tom Cowhey will temporarily take over Lynch's responsibilities as CEO. The company expects the management changes to be effective immediately.
