Ford Recalls Over 90k SUVs and Trucks Due to Potential Engine Failure
What's the issue?
Ford has issued a recall for over 90,000 SUVs and trucks due to a potential engine failure. The affected vehicles include the 2021-2023 Ford Bronco Sport, 2021-2023 Ford Escape, and 2021-2023 Lincoln Corsair.The issue stems from a problem with the vehicles' 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine. In some cases, the engine can experience a loss of power, stalling, or even a complete engine failure.
Ford says it is aware of 20 warranty claims and 11 field reports related to the issue. No injuries or accidents have been reported yet.
What's being done?
Ford is recalling the affected vehicles to inspect and repair the 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine. The repair will involve replacing the engine's camshaft and camshaft phasers.
Ford has notified the owners of the affected vehicles and will be scheduling appointments for the repairs. The repairs will be performed free of charge.
