Padres Bats Explode for 13 Runs
The San Diego Padres erupted for 13 runs on 15 hits, cruising to a dominant victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night at Petco Park.
Trent Grisham led the Padres' offensive onslaught, going 3-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, and four RBIs. Manny Machado also contributed with a solo home run, while Jake Cronenworth and Ha-seong Kim each drove in two runs.
Snell Dominates on the Mound for Padres
Blake Snell was equally impressive on the mound for the Padres, pitching 6 1/3 innings while allowing just three hits and one earned run. Snell struck out eight batters and walked only two.
The Rays managed to score their five runs off the Padres' bullpen, but it was too little too late. Shane McClanahan struggled for the Rays, allowing five runs on nine hits in just 4 1/3 innings.
Padres Improve to 73-56, Rays Fall to 70-60
The victory improves the Padres' record to 73-56, keeping them firmly in the hunt for a wild card berth. The Rays, on the other hand, drop to 70-60 and are now 3 1/2 games behind the Padres in the wild card race.
